Obituary of Julian A. Contreras

Please share a memory of Julian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julian Anthony Contreras was born in Syracuse, New York on July 21, 2000 to Martinia Heath and John Contreras. Julian was raised in both, the Bronx and Yonkers. Eldest son of John and raised by Carmen Contreras. Julian was big brother to Arianna, Jacob, and John Jr. Julian was also the eldest child of Martinia and her only son. Julian was also the big brother to Janae and Madison through Martinia. Julian aspired to do many things. Julian wanted to be a soldier, police officer, football player and wrestler. Julian met most of his goals. Julian played one season of Roosevelt high school football and four seasons of Yonkers wrestling. Julian was also a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and dabbled with kick boxing at Animals MMA. Julian earned a gold medal at a Jiu-Jitsu competition just prior to entering the army. Even though Julian wasn't the best athlete on his football, wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu teams, all of his coaches and most players would praise him for his heart and determination. Julian wanted to join the military for as long as we can remember, ever since he was able to speak. Julian had accomplished many things in his short military career. While in Basic Training at Fort Sill, Julian went from assisted platoon guide (APG) to platoon guide (PG.) Julian was given the opportunity in basic to compete for honor grad and when he had graduated from basic training he was promoted to the title of Private Second Class (PVT2.) During Julian's "one year mark" in the military, he was promoted to Private First Class (PFC.) Two months into being stationed at Fort Bliss, Julian was given the opportunity to receive a challenge coin and got nominated to compete for soldier of the quarter award. Julian was nominated for the Green to Gold program. During all of this, Julian was also being looked at to get promoted once again to Specialist. Julian had accomplished many things and was on track to accomplish so much more. Julian also aspired to become a police officer and join "the family business" as he would say. Julian passed the written exam and was in the process of scheduling the remaining test. Through all of these accomplishments and promotions, knowing Julian, his greatest accomplishment was getting married to Hilda. Hilda was the one person he truly loved and stole his heart. Julian was excited to start a new family with the love of his life. Julian was raised with a kind heart, willing attitude, positive spirit, and was a generous soul. It would only be deemed perfect that he wanted to grow up and serve his country and hometown. Julian was a family man. Julian loved his family and always had them on his mind and in his heart. Julian always made it his business to make time to speak to all of his family. Having a person around like Julian is a rare experience. Julian was a social butterfly who always had everyone's best interest. Julian was supportive and uplifting, goofy and the life of any dull room. Julian was forgiving and understanding. Julian forged many relationships in his short life that will last a life time for those he touched. Julian was a person that has touched everyone's hearts and he will surely be missed and never forgotten.
