In the Loving Memory of Hugo Patricio Lucano
May 14, 1964 - March 10, 2021
Those lucky enough to meet my father, know exactly the kind of man I am about to describe. There are times that he might seem serious and tough, but I can assure you he was the goofiest, happiest, hilarious men a never met. He always saw the good on the adversity, no matter how bad the situation was, he always has a smile and something positive to say like: "Estamos jodidos pero en New York" (we are screwed, but in New York). This was one of his favorite quotes and showed us that everything is possible if you just believe in yourself. His life was hard, he left his beloved city at age 24 to come to this Country. His trajectory was tough, he was incarcerated in Panama, unfairly accused. He almost drowned, he faced a war in Central America and finally 9 months after he got here in the US in hopes for a better life for him and his loved ones back home. That is the kind of man he has always been, always willing to help others that needed it. After a few years in this country, he met my mom, his beloved wife, who he would spend the rest of his years with, and along the way had two children, my sister Carol and I (Mike). He also took my mom's fist birth son as his own and loved him the same. He was such a hardworking man, working countless hours to give us everything that was in his reach, never forgetting his loved ones abroad in his country. He loved to explore, and share with everybody all the places he visited, constantly taking pictures and videos with friends and family to capture the beautiful moments he would spend with everyone. Another thing he love was sports, especially baseball and soccer. He loves to watch and participate in them; he liked it so much that he never missed a game every weekend. I owe it to him because he is the reason, I will forever be the biggest Yankee fan for life, just like he was. He was a devoted Catholic, never missed mass on Saturdays with the family. He liked to go after mass and spend quality time with his brother and sisters from church, where he has some great memories and friends that he made. My father, Hugo Lucano, was such an amazing soul, he always graced us with his presence and could light up the room with his smile, lucky are us the people who got the meet and spend time with such an unforgettable man like he was. I can say, from the bottom of my heart, that my dad loved each and every one of you who met him, and I cannot thank you enough for creating so many beautiful memories for him to take up with him to heaven. Even if it was just a simple conversation, I'm sure he cherished it as just as much. On behalf of my family and me, we thank each one of you for keeping my dad in your prayers. I know he would have done the same thing for us. God love us, God love him. Let Jesus guide him in his final journey to the home of our eternal Father.
Rest in Peace
Hugo P. Lucano
