It is with profound sadness that the family of Mario Pensiero announce his passing on February 25, 2021 at the age of 90.
Mario was born on January 19, 1931 in Spigno Saturnia, Italy, to the late Anna Vento and Antonio Pensiero.
Surviving him and by his side for 66 years is his wife Maria (Gionta), loving children Anthony (Eda), Annamarie (Rick), John (Grace Ann), and his precious grandchildren Anthony John, Gracelyn, Jonathan, Victoria, Samantha and Kathryn. He was predeceased by his sister Vincenza Vaccaarello and brother Miguele Tedesco, of Canada. His younger brother Marco Pensiero of Spigno, passed away seven days after Mario. They are survived by their older brother Pasquale and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mario grew up on a farm in Spigno and lived in a feudal house affectionately known as Il Casino. He worked alongside his family in Italy, and also served in the Italian military. He married in 1955 and later immigrated to the United States in New York. Mario and Maria settled in Bronx, New York and eventually moved to Yonkers. He worked as a butcher for 24 years and afterward, he became self-employed in real estate.
Mario was happiest when surrounded by his family. A perfect day for Mario was to have his children and grandchildren sitting at a large table on a Sunday afternoon and enjoying a traditional Italian meal. He made homemade wine that he loved to share with everyone. He adored his grandchildren with a passion. He was a kind, loving, generous, and caring family man.
He was loved by so many for his charismatic disposition. Mario loved to spend time in Florida, where he regularly enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Mario was regarded as one of the kindest people who will be deeply missed by us all. POP WE LOVE YOU!
