Mary Luciana Vece (nee) Scaringella of Mahopac passed away on Friday April 23, 2021. She died peacefully and surrounded by her family. Mary was a woman of strong faith, a devoted church goer and loving mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. Mary was born in Yonkers NY on February 25, 1935 to her loving parents Cataldo and Laura Scaringella. She is predeceased by her husband Nicholas Edward Vece whom she married in 1960. She is survived by her loving daughter Emelia Sehring and her husband Chuck Sehring and their children Nicholas and Elena. Mary lived with Emelia and her caring family in Mahopac since 2006. She is survived also, by her adoring son, Dr.Nicholas Vece, his wife Missy, and their children, Miranda and Nicholas Vece and Nicole and Andrew Wallach of Somers. Mary leaves behind many loving cousins whom she considered to be her brothers and sisters. They grew up together and made many of her fondest memories. Mary attended Yonkers High School and earned an Associate's degree from Cazenovia Junior College. After College, she worked at Best & Company before getting married and ultimately starting a family. Later in life she went to work at Travelers Insurance Company and St. Joseph's hospital rehab center where she made many good friends and shared many good memories. Her greatest joy was raising her family and then becoming a Grandmother. She doted on her five grandchildren and showered them with love and kindness. She loved shopping at tag sales, especially with her Aunt Sally and also working with family members at Aunt Sally's lingerie shop "Fannys" on South Broadway. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly. She will be waked at Oelker, Cox and Sinatra on Main street in Mount Kisco on Tuesday April 27th , from 3:00pm-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac at 1:00PM on Wednesday April 28th and an internment will take place immediately following at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
