Catherine V. Foti, Advertising Executive, of Yonkers, NY, died June 9, 2021
in her recently adopted residence in Mt. Vernon. She was pre-deceased by her loving sisters, Frances and Paulina Foti. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Yonkers as her Grandfather, Paulino Del Duca and Father, Gaetano Foti went in together as partners on a fine "foursquare" home on Valentine Lane in 1943 -where she continued to live for over 75 years. The story of the Foti Family played out throughout decades on Valentine Lane, as Mr. Foti ran an esteemed tailor shop, Mother Regina Foti ran the household and made wonderful Italian dishes with the influence of her home village in Abruzzo, Italy, sister Frances commuted to mid-town and was a critical first hire at what became an International chemical company, Aunt Candida was busy in the fashion district as a foreman of several ladies, and Uncle Orlando ran some of the family rental properties. Catherine started a career in advertising and marketing in her early 20's. She began working in the "Mad Men" era with advertising giant, Ted Bates and Associates and spent a good part of her career at Readers Digest. Catherine was always tempted to leave it all and go back to Italy and live and work. And she returned there often and was an early passenger on the U.S.S. United States ocean liner. Catherine's fun nature was also in evidence when she purchased a two-toned 1955 Chevrolet Belair convertible in her early 20's. Every year she loaded up the car with friends and drove to Lake Placid for ski vacations. Catherine and the family supported many charitable causes, including the New York Public Library, Doctors without Borders, WNYC and many others. She loved the New York Mets, Yankees, the Jets and the Giants and enjoyed games on an old black and white TV on the porch with her sisters over the years. She also loved an afterwork gathering with friends at the Trattoria restaurant in the Pan Am Building, and trips to Scotland and around Europe and the Western United States with the same friends. Catherine Foti's life and the Foti family legacy is one of hard work, thrift, decency, and solid values, and a sense of adventure. She treated her friends well and treated her family with unfailing love. Services will be held at St. Margret of Cortona, 450 W.. 260th Street, Riverdale in the Bronx, Monday , June 14th, 9:45AM. Burial to immediately follow at Mt. Hope cemetery, Hastings on the Hudson.
