Obituary of Angelo Recine
Please share a memory of Angelo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angelo Recine, aged 80, of Yonkers, NY, left this world suddenly on Wednesday July 28, 2021. Born in Ripi, Italy in 1941, Angelo traveled across the world to start a new life in New York, overcoming many challenges to create an inspiring and wonderful life. Angelo taught himself to read and write English and went onto a long career as an electrical foreman with the MTA. He met his wife Teresa at the shoe repair shop that her father owned in Queens. They were married during the great snowstorm of January 1963 and raised a loving family with two children and five grandchildren over 58 years of marriage together. His daughter Anna is married to Robert and blessed Angelo with two granddaughters Emma and Ava. His son Joseph is married to Toni and they brought great joy to Angelo with a grandson Joseph and two granddaughters Gianna and Angelina. Angelo adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, often doing things that you would not expect from an Italian man who held tremendous quiet strength. He was usually found painting pictures, being “made-up” by his granddaughters, playing race cars on the floor with his grandson, taking all of them for ice cream, teaching his teenage grandson and granddaughter to drive and was always ready with a chocolate bar as a token of his affection. Angelo cared deeply for his wife Teresa, tending to all her needs and being her rock for over five decades during which they shared many joys and many trials. When it came to his children Anna and Joe and their spouses, there was no need that went unmet. Lovingly referred to as “MacGyver”, he built, he painted, he gardened, he fixed, he created wonder from nothing, helping his children make the homes they have. Angelo invested in their futures and he supported them in every way. His children knew that they could depend on their father no matter what. Family meant everything to Angelo and his departure leaves a deep wound. Angelo will be missed beyond measure, but he can rest in peace knowing that his love, his spirit, his gifts, and the memories he created will live on with his family and we will do our best to honor his legacy – he will always be our Papa and Nonno.
