Obituary of Doris Hall

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Zelinda Hall was born on January 27th, 1936, in Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Domenic and Teresa Romagnoli, both Italian immigrants who emigrated from Italy and passed through Ellis Island. Doris grew up in Massachusetts in a hard-working Italian American family – where home cooking, gardening and an entrepreneurial do it yourself attitude were the mainstays of daily life. Doris attended and met her first husband Lionel Racine at Boston University where she graduated with an accounting degree. Soon after marriage she was busy giving birth to - and raising four children in Westchester NY. Doris was a traditional and happy homemaker and could easily tackle any project – from tearing down and building a new house, to making clothes, to cooking the finest family meals and planting tomatoes with enormous care and love. Although she was generally a private soul, once she got to know you she was very generous with her thoughts and opinions, and her folksy descriptive language and storytelling were rich with a Boston accent that never softened. Doris liked to attend church and never missed a Sunday, going out of her way to find a church wherever she was - at any cost. After Doris's first husband Lionel passed away, she re-married to David Hall. David and Doris moved to - and formed a new life together in Cape Cod Massachusetts, where Doris had many fond memories of her childhood summers. Settling in Chatham on the water, they were avid boaters together, and built a wonderful home, garden and Cape Cod lifestyle that brought about years of loving family gatherings, parties, and adventures on the ocean for all to enjoy. Her children and grandchildren often visited and were locally known for their love of waterskiing. Sadly, Doris was stricken with and struggled with Alzheimer's in her last years of life. Always careful with her appearances and proud to a fault, she hid her symptoms as long as she could, rarely spoke of the disease, and maintained her quiet poise and dignity until her very last days. Doris is survived by her husband David Hall, her four children - Michelle, Sharon, Stephen and Glen, as well as her five grandchildren – Jared, James, Derek, Lucia, and Dylan & Great-grandchildren Jackson and Julia.
