Christine Cha, a loving mother and nurse, passed away at her home in New York City on Friday, August 20, 2021. She was 41.

Christine was born on September 4,1979 in Starkville, Mississippi to Chin Young Cha and Dr. Achin Kim. She spent her childhood years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, then, at age of 11, moved with her family, including grandparents, to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she attended Andover High School. There, she was captain of her soccer team, class president and graduated summa cum laude ranked in the top percentile of her class. Christine loved ice skating, spending summers at Sejong Camp, and going to rock concerts.

Christine completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in 2003, where she earned a degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering with a minor in Biology. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.00 GPA. After completing her undergraduate studies, Christine felt her true calling was to help others, so she decided to pursue a career in medicine. She completed graduate studies at the University of Michigan Nursing School in 2007 to become a nurse, again graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.95.

As a Registered Nurse, Christine worked passionately and selflessly, first helping the sick and injured at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan then at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, before finding a home at NYU Langone, also in New York City, where she spent over a decade as an emergency room nurse. This past year Christine was on the front lines of the pandemic, helping to launch one of the nation's first COVID-19 testing centers. Always ready and willing to be of service to those in need, she was a hero to many people, especially her family and friends.

When she wasn't at the hospital, Christine could be found outdoors, running along the Manhattan waterfront, training for one of the many marathons she successfully finished, adding to her growing collection of medals. She loved traveling, both across the country and abroad, as well as spending quality time with her large, extended family. Although she had many passions in her life, nothing filled her with more joy than being a doting mother to her 11 year old daughter, Zoe.

Christine is survived by her parents, daughter Zoe, and brother Edmond.

Christine's funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Church, located at 10 Squire Avenue in Yonkers, New York.
