Marilyn E. McGinness

Marilyn passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021. She was 93. Her loving husband John E. McGinness pre-deceased her in 1991. She is survived by her three sons John, William and James; five grandchildren Sean, Brian, Will, Emily and Jeff and six great-grandchildren Owen, Pearl, Niamh, Louise, Polly and Benjamin.

Marilyn held her family in a close, loving embrace and also cherished many dear friends throughout her life. She reveled in sharing her family's rich history with her multi-generational family and had an amazing memory and delightful wit that made for captivating storytelling and innumerable moments of laughter and great fun.

Marilyn completed her college degree while raising an active family and worked for more than 30 years as an administrative assistant to the Superintendent of the Bedford Central School District. After retiring, she became a travel agent for Directions Unlimited and enjoyed many years of travel adventures around the world.

Marilyn was committed to her Catholic faith. She was an active member and past president of the Bedford Hills Women's Club, the Red Hats women's club, and the Catholic Widows and Widowers Club. She loved dogs and until recently always had a faithful companion by her side. She generously gave to a myriad of nonprofit organizations that supported the quality of life for people, animals and communities.

Always ready to sit and talk, play a board or card game, cook up a delicious new recipe or celebrate a special occasion with a glass of champagne – she was a beautiful force that will forever leave her imprint on all those she leaves behind.
