Obituary of Vincent D'Alessio
Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent D'Alessio, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1941, to Grace and Vincent D'Alessio, Sr. He was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, and met his wife, Adrienne Masselli at 11;00 High Mass at Immaculate Conception Church when he was 19 and she was 17. They married on September 1, 1963, and had three children – Donna Ventarola, Patricia Gamba, (Joseph) and Vincent D'Alessio, III.
He started his career working with his father at the family business, A. D'Alessio & Sons Supermarket on Allerton Avenue in the Bronx. He went on to become the Payroll Manager at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1997.
As a young married man, he helped to build the home that he lived in for 54 years. He was truly a jack of all trades, and he could build or fix almost anything. He loved to fish, play tennis, bowl and travel. But what gave him the most joy and pride was his tomato garden. He proudly gave everyone he knew (and even those he didn't know) the fruits of that labor.
Vinny was a true family man, and he valued his family and those relationships more than anything. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Ashley, Vincent and Jessica Ventarola, Gabriella and Christopher Gamba, and Gianna and Anthony D'Alessio. He is also survived by his loving sister, Laura Petrera.
Vinny had a true zest for life, and some of his happiest moments were spent at his time share in Aruba. He and Adrienne spent one month every year there for the last 32 years. Because of his love for and loyalty to Aruba, he and Adrienne were named Honorary Ambassadors by the Aruban Consulate.
Vinny was a devout Catholic, and his faith was of paramount importance to him.
