Helen Regina (Hauser) Hopkins, age 90, died peacefully at Northern Westchester Hospital on January 3, 2010. Helen, born on May 29, 1919 in Mt. Kisco, New York, was a lifetime parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. After 58 years of marriage, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Everett Blair Hopkins. Helen, a homemaker and later, a switchboard operator at Readers Digest and Everett, co-owner of Bodelson's Pharmacy, spent many happy years in Mt. Kisco raising their three children. In retirement, Helen and Everett spent many enjoyable winters in Sarasota, Florida. Helen spent the last years of her life at the Country House in Yorktown Heights, New York followed by a residency at Somers Manor Nursing Home in Somers, New York. Helen was also predeceased by her sister Mary (Hauser) Byington of New Port Richey, Florida and her daughter, Carol Anne (Hopkins) Place of Vergennes, Vermont. Helen is survived by her sister, Gertrude (Hauser) Smith of Mt. Kisco, sons, Stephen Everett Hopkins of Ithaca, New York and James Jay Hopkins of New Haven, Connecticut, and grandchildren Christopher Hopkins, Kenneth Hopkins, Eric Hopkins, Jonathan Hopkins, Jeffery Place, and Carrie Place, and one great-grandson. Calling hours for friends and family will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street in Mt. Kisco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, January 6 at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Mt. Kisco, New York with interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
