Obituary of Alfa Piacente

Alfa Piacente, age 95, of Yonkers, died Monday, February 21, 2022, 43 years later to the day of her beloved husband, Pietro's passing. Alfa was born December 1, 1926, in Villa San Sebastiano, Italy, to the late Pietro and Teresa (Berardi) Pensa. She immigrated to America in 1953, on the Italian Ocean Liner, Andrea Doria, where she gave birth to her first son, at sea. In her early years, she worked as a seamstress at Oak Street Dress Shop, and later retired from Joe Jim Fashions. The rest of her life was spent being a devoted mother to her treasured sons and daugters-in-law, the late Andrew (Marie) and George (Terry). Alfa was "everybody's Nonna," but especially to her adoring grandchildren, Christina (Paul), Andrew (Andrea), Adam (Dominique), Danielle (Nicholas) and her 10 great grandchildren. Cherished sister, zia, cousin and friend, Alfa was a longtime member of the Nodine Hill Senior Center and in her spare time took immense pleasure in cooking and baking for her family, specifically, homemade pizza, gnocchi, pizzelles and lemon cookies. She will be terribly missed and forever in our hearts. Ciao Ciao for now.
