Angiolina (Angelina) Di Vitto, of Yonkers, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was 87 years of age. She died of Cancer, while in Palliative Care at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY. Angelina will always be remembered as a beloved wife, loving mother, and grandmother, sister, and friend. Angelina was born in Sulmona, a medieval city, in the Province of L' Aquila, Abruzzo Italy, on June 12, 1934, to Laura and Archangelo Del Monaco. She was one of ten children. Angelina was guided by her deep faith in God. Everything she did during her inspiring lifetime was in love and support of her family. She married the love of her life in Sulmona, in 1954. Angelina and Salvatore, have known each other since childhood, growing up in war-torn Italy. The couple immigrated from Italy, to the United States, with their two sons in 1966. The family moved into Yonkers, NY, where Angelina worked at the Oak Street Dress Shop, for over 30 years. Angelina was an exceptional gardener, cook and baker. Family dinners were very important to her. Her Italian cookies and pastries, were the centerpiece at her son's and grandchildren's weddings and all family celebrations. Angelina is survived by, her sister Lillia and her family, in Sulmona. She is predeceased by her brothers baby Guido, Gino, Verino, Andrea, Guido and her sisters Giovanna, Erselia, and Olimpia-Rosa. She leaves behind her loving husband Salvatore, and her two devoted sons, Aldo and Luca, and their spouses, France and Julie respectively. Her four grandchildren Dana, Luca Jr., and his wife Simone, Sophia and her husband Dr. Anthony Mell, and Matthew, will hold her memory forever in their hearts. A celebration of Angelina's life will take place at Sinatra Memorial Home, located at 499 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY, 10704, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held the following morning, Friday, March 4, 2022, at 10:30 am, at the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Ann's, at 854 Midland Avenue, NY, 10704. Entombment proceedings will follow at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. Floral arrangements may be sent the Sinatra Memorial Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to The American Cancer Society, https://donate3.cancer.org/, or call 800-227-2345.
