Obituary of Joan A. Sokolik
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan Ann Sokolik was born March 15, 1932. At 90 years of age, she was the second born child of Lillian and John Pistone and is survived by her brother Frank (Irene) Pistone of Hollywood Florida. Joan lived in Yonkers all her life and graduated Commerce High School. Joan married the love of her life Andrew A. Sokolik, Sr on April 20, 1952 and just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They had three children, Steve(Tina (Maureen), Andrew Jr. (Ann Marie) and Karen Serricchio, 6 grandchildren, Adam, Andrea, Stefanie, Jamie, Victoria and Nick and 7 great grandchildren, Emmy, Kenzie, Hayes, Austin, Logan, Ryder and Xander, with her 8th great grandchild due in May.
Joan started her career as a Secretary for Yonkers Savings & Loan and after raising her 3 children she worked for Dr. George Kurian as an Administrative Secretary.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and baking and we will surely miss her famous "plum cake" and broccoli rabe. Joan also enjoyed playing cards weekly with her friends at the senior center at Pelton Field, the Italian club and at home. She also was avid bowler and enjoyed spending time at their 2nd home in Palm Coast Fl.
Joan will be dearly missed by all who knew her and our hearts go out to her beloved husband Andy who now has to continue on without the love of his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
