In Loving Memory of Lucy Guarino
Lucy Guarino, age 94, of Yonkers, New York, entered into Heaven on May 3, 2022. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be greatly missed.
Daughter of the late Peter and Maria Puccio, Lucy was born on September 15, 1927 in the Bronx, NY. She was the cherished wife of the late Joseph Guarino for 64 devoted years.
As the treasured matriarch of her family, Lucy is survived by her loving children, Paul Guarino and Susan (Guarino) Scimeca, supported by their respective spouses Tina and Michael. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Michael Guarino and wife Danielle, Paul Guarino and wife Elise, and Michelle (Scimeca) Howard and husband Jeff; along with treasured great-grandchildren Olivia and Landon Howard, and Mea and Isla Guarino. She is predeceased by her brothers Paul, Frank and Joseph Puccio.
In addition to caring for her children, Lucy took pride in her work in banking on Wall Street. She also spent many years assisting customers at both Sterling Optical and a dental lab in Yonkers.
Lucy enjoyed reading novels and completing The New York Daily News crossword puzzle each day. She had a passion for jigsaw puzzles and Wheel of Fortune. Lucy embraced apartment living, where neighbors felt like family, and friends were always there to visit for coffee and cake. She was a longtime member of the Yonkers Senior Center and enjoyed day trips to the casino with her husband and fellow seniors.
Her greatest joy and deepest passion was to be a loving and devoted grandmother to her three hearts – as she referred to her grandchildren. She adored her great-grandchildren, and delighted in their visits.
Above all else, Lucy was dedicated to her close-knit family. The brilliant light of her spirit will forever shine in our hearts.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Braemar Assisted Living in Wallkill, NY and Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY for the excellent care they provided Lucy in her final days.
