Please share a memory of Monserrate to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Monserrate Delgado was born on October 16, 1934 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Monserrate had four brothers and four sisters. Of her brothers and sisters, she is survived by one brother, Thomas of Florida, and one sister, Rosa of Puerto Rico. Monserrate came to the United States at a young age and worked as a seamstress. Monserrate met the love of her life, Antonio Delgado, in 1960. She married Antonio soon after, and their marriage produced six children - Evelyn, Antonio, Ilda, Thomas, Rosa, and Raul. Monserrate was an amazing Mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Monserrate always let her children know how much she cared for them. When the grandchildren came, she cared for them while their parents worked. She reminded her children everyday how important they were to her. Her family knew how much she loved them because she took the time to show and tell them. After Monserrate's illness, she loved having her children lay in bed beside her. Monserrate never wanted to burden her family. She was always independent. Even on her most challenging days, she did her best to help her family take care of her. Monserrate was her family's best friend, advisor, and confidant. Antonio was always and forever the love of her life. Monserrate wanted her children to be the best they could ever be, and constantly encouraged them in all their endeavors. Monserrate loved contributing to St. Jude. She loved the children. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude in her name.
