I have had the pleasure of being a part of this family for over forty years. My best memories of Joe was always his shy smile. He was quite through life but a smart man who had a lot of accomplishments. I am so glad I saw him this Christmas and shared some caring words. Joe share your smile up there. You will be missed.

I just got the news from your brother..........Wow. Joe was our supervisor down here in St. Thomas Virgin Islands at Trust Asset Management. This is some sad news, you were a supervisor and our fishing buddy. We lived down here for years and never did that till you took us out. Even when you left St. Thomas you always came to look for us "KID". Wow this is some bad news, I guess your in a better place. Last trip it was You, Wilbert, Raphy, your brother and I.....we barley caught anything, but it was still great, not know that was the last time I was going to see you. RIP Joe Lopez.

Don't know where to begin. It was excellent having you not only as a Supervisor, but as a friend and mentor down here in the Virgin Islands. I'll always remember you for our fishing trips or hanging out after work "Joe Lo". Great personality "Kid". Keep on smiling. Rest in peace...

JOE, I’m so blessed to have had the pleasure to get to know you. Your spirit is as bright as the lovely smile you posses and the kindness and friendship you shared. I will never forget the great times had in the Virgin Islands, and I know that you will live on in the wonderful memories that we all carry. Thank you for being such a great big brother to my boy Nelson. We all should be so lucky to have a brother like Joe. You will be missed… RIP Joe.
To the Lopez family may God bless and keep you during this very sorrowful time. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Hi My Joe,
I have tears falling down my face as I write this.
I remember the day I took this handsome picture of you. We were on the boat "Treasure" for the weekend. I had my Red Sox hat on and you wore this Yankee one. Seems like it was yesterday when "girl from Boston meets and falls in love with boy from New york in the USVI". When we were in STT together it was the best time in my life.
I've never met anyone that could make a 3 course gourmet meal,(with your "all-clad" pots and pans), with only 6 ingriedients in the frig and have it taste, AND be presented like a chef had made it. and you loved every second of it.
You would ask, "HONEY, what country do you want to eat from tonight?".. and voila' you would whip it together in a snap (Lord only knows where you were able to get some of the ingriedients in STT it was hard enough to get fresh produce ) :)
oh Joe, I could go on, and on, and on with our stories and our memories, but for now I will say farewell. You know how much I hate goodbyes.
All these years later you wouldn't let too much time go by without calling me to tell me I was your.. "Love of my life, pain in my a**"
Who will I call now when the red sox are kicking yankee butt?? Let's just hope that won't happen.
We never know what God's plan is, but someone once said that when God calls us home, our job here on earth is finished.
I'm not happy about this one God, Joe and I had dreams....
Until we meet again my Joe may you bask in the sunlight of the spirit.
My Heart and Love, Karyn

Joe, I remember the time when you worked for me at Paloma. You were a great guy and had a great sense of humor. We had a good time working together. I remember the times we would play volleyball or just hang out at the softball games. May you rest in peace and God bless you. You will be greatly missed!

Such a shock. I met Joe when he first started at Paloma as a consultant. I was getting married soon, buying my first house at the time and was stressing at correctly moving the downpayment money into the bank account where I needed it... Ironically, this new guy who'd been there only 2 days was just the right person to meet... great guy that he is, he lent me his expertise & walked me through how to do the moneywire instructions to get the cash where I needed it in time for the closing.
He was a great guy and I'm very sorry at his loss at such a young age.

I am almost at a loss for words when i write this. One never thinks about how fragile life is until its gone. JoLo you will surely be missed by your family and friends but they will always remember the best of times they had with you.
For me, one such event was the Paloma wiffle ball games we had after work in the picnic area. Having a few beers, joking around and having a great time to relieve the daily stress from work.
Well my friend and fellow Yankee fan, may the sun always shine on you in that restful place you now call home.

Where do I start. You are my blood, my cousin but yet my brother. I feel like Someone has ripped my heart out and thrown it away. My pain is indescribable and yet I pray so so much but when I just left you looking at your brother crying at your coffin. I can only wish this was a bad dream but I do know you are in Heaven because you are a true angel and loved by many. Joey I will miss you, your smile, your laughter and no matter where we went, we kept in touch and met up whether it was New York, Georgia, St. Thomas or wherever. May God welcome you in his kingdom cause you truly lived life to the fullest. I love you Joey and miss you.

To the Lopez Family
My heart is heavy as I received the news that our fellow friend and classmate was laid to rest this past week.
It is difficult for us all to digest.
In looking at the bridge over troubled waters and digging deep within our inner-selves for better understanding of our loss it is appropriate to celebrate his life through the blessed sacrament of mass.
As a gesture of kindness to our friend and classmate I will make a special request at my parish church The Cathedral of St. Patrick in NYC for a mass of remembrance in Joseph 'Joey' Lopez and forward all the appropriate information to his family.
