Assunta "Cindy" Steves of Yonkers, NY peacefully died February 3, 2010. She was 75 years old. Cindy was born on August 10, 1934 to Vincent and Josephine DeMarco. Her remarkable life was highlighted by work as a dance teacher in the 1950's and a supervisor for Bell Telephone. In recent years, she was an active member of the Coyne Park Senior Center and dedicated a great deal of her time to organizing donation drives for our troops stationed in Iraq. Her inner beauty and compassion for anyone in need left an indelible mark on her family and friends who will miss her dearly. Beloved wife of the late Ernesto Steves, they were married on August 22nd, 1959. Loving mother to Elizabeth (Anthony) Lucadamo, Joanna (Brian) Kennedy, Josephine (Daniel) Darretta, Vincent (Donna) Steves and Andrea (Robert) Grizzaffi. Cherished Grandmother to Brian, Nicolette, Ernesto, Kevin, Susan, DJ, Dominic, Vincent, Nicholas, Joseph, Anthony, Daniel, Jamie, Robert, Steven and Michael. Predeceased by her brother Andrew DeMarco and Jenny Valenti. And most recently and sadly by brother Joseph DeMarco. She is survived by her brother Jerry DeMarco of Yonkers. Most importantly, she was a vibrant, loving and generous woman who dedicated herself to her large family and many friends. She was the "mother to many" in good times and in bad and will forever be remembered by them as the center of our family. Her motto was "Family is Forever".
