Carol Braia, age 88, of Yonkers died on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home with family by her side.

She was born on May 1, 1934 in New York City to Lefka and George Strezou. She attended school in the city.

On Christmas Eve when Carol was 5, her Father suddenly passed away. This proved to be a big challenge for her for much time to come.

Later, Carol received a cosmetology license as well as a real estate license and had professions in both fields.

In between jobs, Carol was a homemaker, eager to cook great dinners and host holidays. She was quite the shopper going to many supermarkets purchasing only the sale items and using many coupons.

She was married to the late James C. Braia for 53 years, who passed in 2004. Together they had 2 sons:

George, (and his wife Maria of Brewster, and their children Brittany and Ariana)

and

James Jr., (of Hartsdale, and his children Briana and James III).

Having only sons, Carol was elated that her first 3 grandchildren were girls. Talk about the apples of her eye! But Grandson James Braia III( another BIG Apple)will be the one to carry on the Braia name!
