Obituary of John (Jack) Drago, Sr.

John F. Drago Sr. passed away on March 8th 2010 at the age of 77, after a long illness. "Jack" worked as the Vice president of Mayerhauser Realty Corp. for over 35 years. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. He was awarded two bronze stars. He served as President of Yonkers J.F.K. Little League throughout the years. He was also past President of the Sherwood Homeowners Association. Known as an advocate for Veterans of Foreign Wars, He was instrumental for many years in organizing the Yonkers Memorial Day and Veteran's Day Parades. He also pushed for war monuments to be erected in our city, honoring our cherished lost in battle. Jack served as a six time Commander of the VFW Empire Post # 375. He served as a two time VFW Westchester County Commander. He served as a member of the City of Yonkers Central Committee. Mr. Drago is survived by all five of his children, Donna McLoughlin of Yonkers, Deborah DeMunbrun of Houston Texas, John Jr. of Mount Vernon, NY, James also of Mount Vernon, NY and Daniel of Yonkers . He has 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Roy of Boardman, Ore. and James of Yonkers. He is predeceased by Jean Drago, his wife of 45 years. He is further predeceased by his Brothers Walter, Robert "Butch" and William "Billy". Visitation will be Thursday March 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 at Sinatra Family Funeral Homes at 601 Yonkers Avenue Yonkers, NY. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home March 12th at 10 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
