Arthur DiBerardino, age 83, a resident of Yonkers, died on May 23, 2023. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many.
Arthur, born in Corvara, Italy, immigrated to this country at the age of 15 and was proud to become a U.S. citizen. He settled in Yonkers, where he met his future wife, Patricia, with whom he had four children. He was a Master Plumber by trade who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, which always included delicious food and homemade wine. A phenomenal cook, he enjoyed making specialty dishes like arrosticini, polenta, gnocchi, Italian cheesecake, tiramisu and many more; no one left his house hungry. His garden also brought him joy; figs, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and zucchini were just some of the crops that grew abundantly. A family man, he volunteered at his kids' school events and enjoyed taking family vacations, both abroad and in the U.S. He was known for his generosity and keeping alive his Italian traditions. He also had a fun, playful side that made people laugh. He touched so many with his zest for life which will live on forever in his memory.
Arthur joins his wife of 59 years, Patricia, son Anthony, his parents, grandparents and other loved ones in Heaven. He is survived by his daughter Michelle, son and daughter-in-law, Artie and Elaine, and daughter Louise. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Jamie, Artie, Amanda, Nicholas, Daniel, Lauren, Kaitlynn and two great-grandchildren, Alessandria and Joshua. He leaves behind his brothers, Sabatino and Mario, his sister-in-law Luisa, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held at Sinatra Funeral Home (499 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY) on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Church (110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY) on Wednesday, May 31, at 9:30 a.m.
