Obituary of Assunta Ferraro

Assunta (Sue Ann) Ferraro (nee Piccoli) passed away peacefully on Friday August 4, 2023, at Calvary Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer.  She was 79 years old.  Born in the Bronx, she moved to Yonkers with her family when she was young and after she married, remained there, living only a house away from her parents. She was a graduate of Commerce High School.  Through her best friend and future sister-in-law, she met her husband, Frank.  They were married on April 23, 1966 and raised two children, Donna and Frank.  Her favorite times were at Salt Rock Campground with family and friends fishing in the river.  This was only until her grandchildren were born.  Miranda, Melanie and Marina were the lights of her life, with her niece Jessica a very close second.  She showered them with so much love and affection.  She was a loyal friend to many and you could always count on her to make you a fabulous drink or “help” you with your child’s science projects.  She was always crafting a display for a birthday party, baby shower or wedding shower. You could always count on her honesty, good or bad, and she was always ready to have a good time.  Her husband Frank predeceased her on March 15, 2017.  She leaves behind her daughter Donna, son-in-law Guy, her son Frank, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Lucille and niece Jessica as well as sisters-in-law Theresa Petruzzi, Nancy Tetto, Maria Ferraro and their children Theresa (Rod) Street, Patricia (George) Parker, Gina (Robert) Scaringella, Joseph (Gina) Tetto.

Visitation will be at Sinatra Funeral Home 499 Yonkers Ave in Yonkers on Sunday August 13^th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the places that were invaluable in transporting her to all her cancer treatments.:
