Obituary of Afaf Nesheiwat

Please share a memory of Afaf to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with sadness in our hearts that we share with you the passing of Afaf Michael Sweillem Nesheiwat (Umm Jeries). She passed as she lived her life, peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Issa, her two sons, Jeries and Sharif and their families, and her ten brothers and sisters. Afaf was considered the matriarch of dar Abu Afif after the passing of her mother, Nour, in 2015. Throughout her life, she selflessly put others before herself, first helping raise her siblings, then caring for the sick as a nurse in Irbid and Yonkers, and later in life, donating generously to her favorite charity, St. Jude. She was a woman of devoted faith, love of family and friends she made along her life journey from Jordan to the US and her deeply engrained Jordanian values. Her memory will be eternal. Viewing services will be available from 4-8pm on Tuesday, August 8th, at Christ the Savior Melkite Church located at 491 Palisade Avenue in Yonkers. Funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, August 9th, at 9am also at Christ the Savior Church with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery to follow. The family invites all to a mercy meal luncheon at the Westchester Manor after burial.»(Do not delete this line. It does not print. Text that is to appear on web must be entered before this line)
