Professor Angelo Branca was my Italian Language Professor at Yonkers High School for Three(3) years. He was funny and kind and truly cared about his students. It was important for us to speak Italian (properly) and to learn about the rich and beautiful Italian culture. Over the years i would see my favorite Italian Professor around town . He would always take the time to stop , ask me about my current situation and speak to me in Italian. ( i am sure he was testing me! lol)

My most endearing memory of Angelo is playing bacci at family parties. Now Angelo always had a pleasant smile and an affable manor. Except in the heat of a bacci game in the backyard. Angelo had a special talent in the art of measuring the distance between the balls trying to determine the closest ones and scoring. Between Nino and Angelo, the next generation learned how to creatively measure and score. Somehow the math one learned at school was suspended in our family games of bacci. For those who were honored to know him, his smile and laugh will be missed but will live in our hearts and memories forever.
