Mahmoud Sadre, 87, of Tarrytown, NY, died on September 4, 2023 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. He was born on December 20, 1935, to Hassan and Esmat Sadre in Esfahan, Iran. He studied at Syracuse University, where he received his BS and MS in math and engineering. After Syracuse, he completed his PhD coursework at Brooklyn Polytechnic in aerospace engineering. His first job was working on the initial F series aircraft. He married Patricia Sadre (née O'Hearn) on June 30, 1962. They had two children, Delia (Sadre) Mellen and Nader Sadre. Mahmoud worked in the oil industry in Tehran for nearly two decades before moving permanently to the United States. He held patents on the commodification of electrical components and also developed instruments for the exchange of currencies. Later in life, he published books on politics and religion. Mahmoud's passions were music, long nature walks, gardening and sweets, and he would often share ice cream with his faithful dog, Lucky. He had a life-long love of learning and was a devoted husband and father who took care of his family until the end. He is survived by his wife, both of his children, and seven grandchildren: Jordan Mellen, Haley Mellen, Madison Mellen, Mitchell Mellen, Roland Sadre, Mabel Sadre, and Gwendolyn Sadre. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
