Obituary of Kathleen Maimone
Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen (Sansone) Maimone, age 70, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023.
Kathy was born on June 29, 1953 in Yonkers, New York to the late Joseph and Rita (Harrison) Sansone. She was the apple of her parents' eyes and they enjoyed a very close relationship for their whole lives. She graduated from Yonkers High School in 1971 and spent her career in the dental field, first as an assistant and then a receptionist and office manager.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jimmy, who was her support, best friend and life-long love. The two married in 1975 and while they often drove each other crazy, they were truly soul-mates. They had an incredible amount of pride in their kids and they loved the family they created together.
Kathy was a fierce friend and would never falter or sway in her beliefs. She would stand firm for anything or anyone she believed in and she was the epitome of a protective "Mama Bear". No one could mess with Kathy's kids…except for her. She would defend them regardless of whether they were wrong or right. Of course, if they were wrong, she'd let them have it later on. She had perfected her eye roll and when you saw that, you knew you were in trouble. She was a lover of Broadway shows and disaster movies and was a lifelong fan of General Hospital, never missing an episode. She also had a deep and abiding love of nice purses…something she shared with her daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
But the thing that Kathy loved the most was being a grandma. Her grandchildren, Sofia and Luca, were the lights of her life and she came alive whenever she would see them. The grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes. She lived to spoil them and the word "No" was never heard coming from her lips in respect to them. Kathy's favorite activity was to go shopping for clothes and especially shoes for Sofia and Luca, even when they didn't need them. Her greatest joy was watching them grow and change before her eyes from tiny babies into beautiful children with huge personalities. She would always tell her son and daughter-in-law that they really made some beautiful babies. Kathy ended each day by looking through pictures and videos of Sofia and Luca because she always wanted their images to be the last thing she saw at night. Anyone who knew Kathy, knows that as soon as she met Jimmy in heaven, they started fighting to see who would take the first watch over Sofia and Luca.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Shana, and her partner, John, her son, Marcus, and his wife, Marisa, and her grandchildren, Sofia and Luca.
