The lone remaining member of the dynamic, strong and family oriented duo has left us. Behind she left a wonderful family enriched by her never-ending love and guidance. A gift to all of us 'non-Spano's' is her legacy of children, grandchildren and great-grand-children who have inherited many of the best parts of her. She has left us all a terrific legacy in her family,and we are grateful to her for it.

I am sorry I cannot be with you to convey, in person, the warm regard I have for your mother!! From the kitchen in Sacred Heart School to the living room on Park hill for the St. Gerard Mass, her kindness and ability to care for all, especially children, was a part of her being. I know she will be sorely missed - but I also know that the memories are beautiful and strong.

My life has always had you mother in it. As a kid, I don’t remember walking Riverdale Avenue without seeing your mother with child. The impact your parents had in our neighborhood will never be matched. I remember when both our parents were honored by St. Peter’s at the Polish. Just our relatives filled the room. We meet all kinds of people as we live our lives, some we remember and others we can’t seem to forget fast enough. If you were lucky enough to meet and privileged enough to know Josephine Spano then you are among the truly blessed because she was so very special! A one in a million soul with an angelic gentle spirit.
