Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

"Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim." - Vicki Harrison

Laura T. Valine (a.k.a Nana, Aunt La), 84, of Carmel, NY passed away in the early morning hours of December 24, 2023, leaving behind a trail of broken hearts.

Laura was born on March 2, 1939 in Mount Kisco, NY to Edward and Antoinette DiLisio, where she spent much of her life aside from a few years in California and Bedford Hills, NY. She moved to Carmel, NY in 2020 to be closer to her children. Laura graduated from Fox Lane High School as part of the class of 1958. She later went on to work for many years in data entry at Chicago Ticor Title in White Plains, NY.

Laura fostered friendships in all facets of her life that endured until her death. She loved to chat on the phone and laugh with her extensive list of friends and family on a regular basis. If you were lucky enough to be her friend, Laura was in your corner for life. If she was not socializing with friends, she was likely watching her favorite NY Yankees play baseball. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling to anywhere she could find a spot at the beach to soak up the sun.

What made Laura most proud was speaking about her two beloved children, Shannon, and Shawn. She also doted upon her cherished grandchildren and her grand puppies. Laura loved her extended family with all of her being and nothing made her happier than spending time with them and enjoying her sister and sisters-in-law delicious Italian cooking.

Laura will be deeply missed and is survived by her daughter, Shannon and son-in-law Richard Murphy Jr., her son, Shawn and daughter-in-law Tanya, and her grandchildren Cole, Zoe, and Callie Valine, who adored their Nana. Laura is also survived by her sister Grace Ciano and many treasured in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers: Angelo, Lou, and Ed "Junie."

Laura will be remembered at a memorial mass at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Mount Kisco, NY on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:30AM

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Laura's name to Russell Rescue, Inc., or the animal welfare organization of your choice.
