Obituary of Vito Labato
Please share a memory of Vito to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Vito Labato was born on October 13, 1934 in The Bronx, New York to Frank and Carrie Labato. He was their oldest child; sons Patrick, Frank, Jr., and Peter were born later.
Attending elementary and junior high school, Vito dropped out of high school in order to work to help support his family. He joined the United States Navy and earned his GED during his military service before he was honorably discharged. In addition to other jobs, Vito had worked as an electrician for a number of years before he worked for MDT Castle at which he repaired hospital equipment for the rest of his career.
Vito married Marilyn Maier on May 2, 1965 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in The Bronx where they were members and joyfully welcomed their son Robert into the world a few year after that.
Vitos's matter-of-fact sense of humor and his wit demonstrated the deep love he had for people and the world. One of his favorite hobbies was his garden, which he tended with great attention and care.
Vito fell asleep in Christ on December 27, 2023 in Yonkers, New York. He is survived by his son Robert, his younger brothers Patrick and Frank, and a host of other family members and friends.
