At 4:44 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 the gates of Heaven opened as the angels welcomed the arrival of Jacqueline "Jackie" Kokkinakis. Jackie passed away peacefully surrounded by family, who she loved deeply at Northwell Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
Jackie was born February 23, 1953 in Scotland, the youngest daughter of the late John McGarry and Charlotte (Martin) McGarry. In 1978, Jackie relocated to New York, where she met and wed the love of her life, John Kokkinakis, and together they built a beautiful family and life.
In 2019 Jackie retired from Phelps Hospital and devoted her time to the thing she loved the most, her family.
Jackie was an exemplary wife, mother and human being. She embodied the best qualities of strength, humor, love and generosity, which she shared unconditionally. Jackie had a unique way of touching the lives of everyone she met.
Jackie will always be remembered for her quick wit and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. We couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, YiaYia, sister or friend she will be missed dearly and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Charlotte McGarry of Greenock,Scotland; her sister, Joan Lamoureaux of East Hampton, Massachusetts; her sister, Betty Stockman of Cyprus; her brother-in-law, Philip DiSalvo of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her brother-in-law Lefteris Kokkinakis of Crete, Greece.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband, John Kokkinakis, her daughters Dina and spouse Wendy Plumlee of Temple, TX; Anna and spouse John Risko of Ossining, NY, Angela Kokkinakis, Ossining, NY and son, George and spouse Jess of Mahopac, NY; grandchildren Kendyl, Lucas, Charlotte, Yianni and Sophia; sister, Phyllis DiSalvo, of Las Vegas, NV and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM at Sinatra funeral home located at 499 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11 AM at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church located at 15 Leroy Ave., Yonkers NY. Interment to follow at Kensico cemetery Valhalla, NY. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church.
