Eleanor Marie Birrittella, born March 15th, 1984, passed away on April 20th, 2024. Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, she was a beloved member of the Westchester county community that she served for over twenty years. Eleanor graduated from Saunders High School and attended Lehman College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Eleanor worked at the Westchester County Board of Elections for the first seventeen and a half years of her career and in 2021, she began her new endeavor as a corrections officer at the Westchester County Department of Corrections. She attended Westchester County Department of Corrections Academy in 2021, fully dedicating herself to her learning and was awarded the title of Honor Student of her class. After graduating in 2021, Eleanor wore her uniform proudly and was overjoyed to continue her family’s legacy in the field of corrections. She made a powerful impact on the officers she worked alongside of as well as the inmate population she served. Eleanor is survived by her parents, Richard and Nancy Birrittella; sister, Kim Begonja; brother, Richard Birrittella Jr.; her partner, Dean Lebrini; niece, Sofia Begonja; nephew, Nicholas Begonja; brother-in-law, Michael Begonja; sister-in law, Emma Novick, and her two fur babies, Leah and Roxi. She was the Buffalo Bills number one fan, an avid pitbull lover, gamer, fitness guru, and enjoyed creative crafts. She loved trying new things and was courageous and fearless in every step she took throughout her life. Eleanor’s infectious smile and radiant soul has left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was the person you could always count on, the friend you have always searched for, and the sister you always wanted. Eleanor was a rising star in the community as well as our hearts and a free spirit that left us too soon. She will be missed immensely and will live forever in our memories.
