Obituary of Salvatore Zaffuto

Please share a memory of Salvatore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Salvatore Zaffuto, a proud veteran of the Army, passed away, April 23, 2024 after a strong battle with cancer. Salvatore, was the son of Salvatore Zaffuto and Alida Martinez. He was born November 17, 1946 in New York City.

At the age of 20, Salvatore was drafted into the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Specialist. Sal worked as a brick layer for the New York City Housing Dept.

Salvatore is survived by his son, Salvatore Zaffuto Jr. (Denise), Peter Zaffuto (Chrissy); his brother Jerry Zaffuto, his sister Lisa Arnold, his grandchildren, Savanna & Salvatore V. Zaffuto, Gabriella & Luke S. Zaffuto, his Ex-wife Joanne Zaffuto, companion Joyce Knizeski, and many nieces and nephews.

Sal, also known as ''Salvy," cherished times spent with his family and friends. He was a dedicated member of the Empire Post V.F.W. 375. He was an honorary member of the Catholic Slovak Club in Yonkers.

Sal will be greatly missed, especially his contagious laugh! He loved playing golf, making wine, (drinking it too, LOL!), hanging out at his clubs, and being with his family and friends.

We love you Dad, Pops, Grandpa, SaIvy, & just good ole SAL! You will forever be in our hearts! No more pain, no more pills. God has you resting now. Rest in peace....
