Obituary of Hector Lloyd Green

Hector Lloyd Green, The General, 74, of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2024. He was born December 8, 1949, to Darrel and Doltrie Green in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, W.I. and was the 4th of 10 children. As a child, Hector attended Harry Watch All Age school before going to Cobbler Camp for vocational training. He was raised to love the Lord unconditionally and became an active member of the Jamaican Evangelistic Center located in Kingston, Jamaica. While there he met and married Alvira Lewis (Lou) and the couple welcomed a son, Kirk and a daughter, Veronique. While living in Kingston he worked at a law firm as an assistant and at the Colgate-Palmolive textile factory.

In the 1980s he emigrated to the United States, landing in Yonkers, where he would spend the remainder of his years. Hector worked for various factories and companies including GM, Otis Elevator, golf courses, taxi companies and finally working for the Kanovitz family managing buildings and assisting the patriarch, Mr. K, "Pops" until his death in 2012.

Hector was beloved by many throughout Yonkers. Fondly remembered for helping others in need by lending a hand, money, food or anything he could spare. He mostly enjoyed playing dominoes, home cooked food and being a jokester. Hector also was kind and known for driving anyone, anywhere at any time. He loved all things car. Fixing up old cars, tinkering under hood and was considered a jack of all trades. Hector loved his mother, Darrel, his Queen, and the Green family immensely, often taking to the road to visit loved ones throughout the states and Canada.

Hector was predeceased by his parents, Darrel and Doltrie Green and his brother, David.

Hector is survived by his sisters Phylis, Lorna, Danette, Shameeka and Marilyn. Brothers, Livingston, Robert and James. Children, Kirk and Veronique. Taliyah and other children his life impacted. He also leaves behind his grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends to cherish his memory.
