Obituary of Andrew Sokolik
Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrew Anthony Sokolik, a lifelong resident of Yonkers passed away peacefully at the age of 92. He was born on April 6, 1932 to Anthony and Marie (Fornabaio) Sokolik.
Andrew was married to his loving wife Joan (Pistone) for 70 years. Joan preceded him in death on April 21, 2022. He is now together again with the love of his life.
Andrew is survived by his three loving children Steven (Tina, "Maureen") Sokolik, Andew Jr. (AnnMarie) Sokolik and Karen Serricchio. He had six loving grandchildren Adam (Colleen), Andrea (Justin), Stefanie (Justin), Jamie, Victoria (Perry) and Nicholas. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren, Emerson, Hayes, Xander, MacKenzie, Ryder, Logan, Dylan, Austin and Madison.
Andrew was a Korean War Veteran and shared many stories about his time in Korea. He was a self employed, hard worker his entire life having to care for his Mom after losing his dad at an early age and then his own family.
In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and spending time at his second home in Palm Coast, FL. He loved to read and watch Jeopardy. But his most favorite thing of all was that he loved to dance with his grandchildren to his favorite song "The YMCA". He was always someone you could count on and you could always find what you needed in "Poppy's Garage". Pop was always there to help his family and that gave him so much joy in doing so.
He will be greatly missed and remembered by all that knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
