Obituary of Tanya Shawn Coleman
Please share a memory of Tanya to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tanya Shawn Coleman was born September 3, 1965 in Yonkers, NY to the late Conway Alfred and Gladys Marie Coleman.
Tanya departed this life on Friday June 28, 2024. She was 58 years young.
Tanya was raised and spent most of her time in Yonkers, NY but moved to White Plains, NY in the 90's and lived there until she passed away. Tanya attended Yonkers Pubic Schools and graduated from Gorton High School in 1984. Tanya was always cool, even tempered, and an all-around sweetheart. Tanya kept to herself for the most part, and spent all of her free time with her family. Tanya was a homebody, and she always kept a very clean and organized home. This led her to her job in Environmental Services for the Westchester County Court House and Department of Elections in White Plains NY, where she worked for over 20 years. Although she loved her job, her best work was being mother to her two daughters, Shara and Tara Coleman, and being "Nann" to her four grandchildren Jalen, Kiam, Kyree, and Alaysia.
To know Tanya was to love her. She really was a sweetheart.
Tanya overcame many of life's hurdles, and made it look easy.
The family has many memories of Tanya and how she always made us smile. Tanya loved music, and her hometown Yonkers.
Her favorite Artist was DMX and Mary J. Blige. Her favorite song before she passed was "Truth Hurts" by Lizzo, which she played and sung loudly. She was loyal, kind-hearted, and family focused. Tanya was the "real one" to her siblings and the "chill" aunt, to her nieces and nephews. We will miss Tanya's calm, and sense of ease that she brought to any situation.
Tanya leaves to cherish in her memory: her two daughters, Shara Coleman and Tara Coleman. Her three grandsons, Jalen Sermon, Kiam Coleman, Kyree Coleman, and her granddaughter, Alaysia Munoz. One brother, Randy Brown. Two sisters, Kim Coleman-Richardson, and Tamara Clayton (George). One step sister Pamela Brown. Her nieces, Fatorraha Wise, and Mya Brown, and nephews Romel Milline, Zion Brown, Keon Clayton, and Korey Clayton. Tanya was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Sandra Coleman, and a host of family and friends that we know were waiting with open arms to welcome her home.
Because she was loved, we know she is doing fine.
Because she was loved, God wasted no time.
Because she was loved!! Because she was loved!!
