Obituary of Rachael Amicucci
Please share a memory of Rachael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 29, 2024, Rachel J. Amicucci passed away peacefully, in the privacy of her home.
Rachael was born on August 30, 1930 to Salvatore and Caroline (Ardovino) Pappalardo in Yonkers, New York where she was a lifelong resident.
On October 25, 1958, Rachael married the love of her life, Philip Amicucci. Rachael and Philip exchanged their vows at St. Denis Church in Yonkers. Their love and commitment lasted 61 years until Philip passed in 2020.
Rachael graduated from Blessed Sacrament in Yonkers in 1948. Rachael‘s love of working with numbers led her to a career as a bookkeeper. She worked at Federal Reproduction in Yonkers, New York and then Rose Press Inc. in Mount Vernon, New York. Unbeknownst to Rachael, she found her extended family in the Mondesando’s and a home away from home at Rose Press. In 2017, after 42 years, it was with bittersweet reluctancy and sadness that Rachael retired at the age of 87.
In her early married years, Rachael enjoyed her annual summer vacations in Wildwood, New Jersey with friends and family. As Rachael and Philip grew older they enjoyed their MANY trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, Connecticut and Yonkers. They also loved their senior trips and spending time upstate.
Rachael’s favorite pastime was watching old movies and she never missed an episode of Family Feud with Steve Harvey. She loved dining out and was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her daughter Caroline and son-in-law Michael Calabrese, her two grandchildren Nicole Galdi (Keith) and Michael, her two great grandchildren Christian Philip and Hailey Rae, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Frank Pappalardo (Shirley).
Rachael’s memory will remain in the hearts of all those who loved her. The family traditions that she held dear and passed on to her loved ones will continue to be passed on for generations to come. Rachael will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
