Obituary of John R. Lieto Sr.

John R. Lieto SR. a lifelong resident of Mt. Kisco died peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 97.  John was born to parents Frank and Jenny (Zucco) Lieto in 1927.  Married to his beloved wife Nora who passed away in 1983.  John enjoyed his 42 year career at the Readers Digest Headquarters in Chappaqua. He was a volunteer firefighter and member of the Mutual Engine & Hose Company of Mt. Kisco for over 72 years and served the community in multiple roles including Captain.  John was a loyal NY Mets fan as well as an avid NASCAR fan who loved Saturday nights at the former Danbury Racearena in Connecticut. He was a long-time parishioner at the Church of St. Francis of Assissi. John was also predeceased by his sisters Mary Molinaro, Madeline Rosaforte, Josephine Biaconi, Mamie Mackie, Catherine Lombardo, Dolores DiStefano; brothers Frank and Natale Lieto; and his dedicated son John Lieto JR.  He is survived by his loving grandchildren John Lieto III (Marie), and Richard Lieto (Scott); Best Friend & Partner Shirley Folchetti.  He will be deeply missed.  A visitation for John is planned for Sunday, August 11, from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Oelker-Cox and Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street in Mt. Kisco.  A Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, August 12, at 10:00 AM, St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2 Green Street in Mt. Kisco. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Ave in Hawthorne.  All are invited to attend.
