Obituary of Phillip A. Stallone
Please share a memory of Phillip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phil was proud to be born in Yonkers and live in the 7th Ward. He and his family lived in a modest three family house that his grandfather Bonfonte bought after immigrating from Italy. Whenever he spoke of his childhood, he beamed because he loved that everyone was close by - aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.
When he graduated from Yonkers High School, he got his associates degree from Westchester Community College and intended to continue college and earn his bachelors degree. However, God had a different plan for his life. He was only 20 when he lost his father and had to go to work full time to support his mother and brother. He went to work for a contractor and decided after two years that it was time for a career change because the commute one way was 80 miles.. Fortunately, his mom persuaded him to talk to a neighbor about a Westchester County Civil Service job and there he remained for 35 years!!
In 1960, he and the "love of his life" met at a dance at Fort Hill Country Club. Two years later, they tied the knot and proceeded to start their family. As a result of their union, they had three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They were all the literal center of his universe.
Happily by Phil and MaryAnn's 25th wedding anniversary, they were able to plan trips with beloved friends to Europe and around the country.
In 1988, they spent their first weekend in Hampton Bays, LI and loved it. They decided they wanted to look for a summer home - this from a man that worked three jobs to support his family in the early days! It was a dream come true!
After early retirement in 1995, he and MaryAnn were able to spend a lot of time in Hampton Bays by the water surrounded by family and friends.
He loved all his people!
