Obituary of Leon C Akery

Leon Charles Akery was born on July 4th, 1949, to Levina (Gammon) Dixon and Willie Charles Akery in Jackson County, Fl.

Leon obtained his education in the Gadsden County school system. At nineteen years old he moved to Yonkers, NY. He worked at Yonkers General Hospital for some time. He also had other odd and end jobs as well. He enjoyed recycling and collecting different things. He was known for saying "I'll take it and find something to use it for."

If anyone needed anything Leon would be there to help in any way he could. He could brighten your day with his laugh and smile. Although he is no longer with us, we will continue to carry all the wonderful memories we have with him in our hearts.

Leon is survived by his son, Patrick Akery. Grandson Malcolm Akery. Brother Eugene Akery, Yonkers, NY. Sister Fannie Mae Gilbert (Don), Marianna Fl. Sister Yvonne Dixon, Yonkers, NY. Aunt Dollish Patterson, Yonkers NY. Aunt Lizz Gammon, Mt. Pleasant Fl.

He is predeceased by his mother and father. Son Daniel Lee Akery. Grandparents Hillard Gammon and Gadsey Rawls Gammon. Sister Alice Akery. Brother Richard "Pete" Akery. Brothers John Dickson and Felix Dixon Jr. Sisters Florene Dixon and Martha Dickson. Aunt Bertha Lucas and Trudy Neil. Uncles Lorenzo, Codis, Otis, RL, and Elijah Gammon.

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
