Obituary of Veronica "Dolly" B. Fletcher

Veronica “Dolly” Fletcher passed away on November 7, 2024 at the age of 101.

She was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on January 26, 1923 to the late Michael and Veronica Buck.

Dolly was a lifelong resident of Mt. Kisco where she attended St. Francis of Assisi Parochial School and then Saint Mary’s High School in Katonah, NY.  She worked as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone company.  

On April 11, 1953, Dolly married the love of her life, William J. Fletcher, Sr., who predeceased her in October 2008. Dolly was a loving wife, a caring and loving mother to her three children, and a doting and nurturing grandmother to her two granddaughters.  Veronica was predeceased by her parents, eight siblings and her beloved husband. She is survived by her children Joy (Tom) Buckley of Tennessee; William Fletcher Jr. (Doreen) of Rhode Island; Cindy Tanacea of Connecticut and her beloved granddaughters, Morgan Tanacea of New York and Kelly Tanacea of California. 

Dolly enjoyed playing bridge, shopping trips with her sister Helen, attending gatherings with all her nieces and nephews, and summers on Cape Cod.  She was a member of the women’s auxiliary of St. Francis of Assisi.  Her most happiest of times were those spent with her family and in the company of her granddaughters 

The family would like to thank Brightview on New Canaan Care Facility in Norwalk, CT for their loving care and compassion extended to their mother in her final years.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 13th, 11:30am at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Mount Kisco, NY.  Interment will follow at Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mount Kisco, NY.  Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home of Mt. Kisco is handling the arrangements.
