Salomon Martinez was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador April 18, 1936.  At the age of 17 he arrived in New York City with his uncle. Luis Martinez, where he became a lifelong New Yorker and a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and then the Mets., when the Dodgers left New York.

Salomon is remembered for his sense of humor, curiosity about the world and love of animals and geography. He had a quick and curious mind. His favorite pastimes included visiting city zoos, aquariums, natural history museums and other historical sites. He was a soccer aficionado introducing his son and daughters to the game and always enjoyed watching matches.  He had a love of music, which spanned genres from his favorite singer and fellow Ecuadorian, Julio Jaramillo to Ray Charles.

He is survived by his three children Maria Martinez-Zanghi (Fortunato), Magda Martinez (Graham), Salomon Martinez (Michelle) and the grandsons he adored Alessandro and Marco Zanghi.  He will be missed by his former spouse Ana Garcia and her extended family and friends.
