Enrique Mairena
December 6, 1956 – November 23, 2024
Enrique Mairena, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6, 1956, in Limón, Costa Rica, to the late Victor and Agustina Mairena, Enrique lived a life defined by love, resourcefulness, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Married for 44 years to his beloved wife, Judith Mairena, Enrique was the proud father of Alexander, Andrea, Marcus, Jessica, and Christian. He welcomed his son-in-law Daniel Albuquerque and cherished his grandchildren: Jacob, Preston, Zachary, Chloé, Sebastian, Austin, Mateo, and Isla. He also shared a deep bond with his siblings, Victor Mairena, Vera Matamoros, and Damaris Suban. Additionally, Enrique leaves behind many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Enrique’s greatest joy was his family, but his love extended far beyond. A natural teacher and mentor, he introduced countless children to chess, tennis, tae-kwon-do, swimming, and the simple joy of riding a bike. His resourcefulness and passion for learning were legendary—he tirelessly researched and found solutions to bring dreams to life.
Enrique will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and the profound impact he had on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted, the love he shared, and the memories his family will forever cherish--
