Obituary of Romeo Cartolano

Romeo J. Cartolano, 93, died peacefully on November 29, 2024, in the presence of his loving family. He was born in the Bronx, New York on December 28, 1930 to the late Anthony and Magdalena Cartolano. He grew up in the Arthur Avenue section of the Bronx and was a graduate of Samuel Gompers High School and RCA Institute, Class of 1953. He married his late loving wife of 67 years, Julia E. Masella, in May 1955 at St. Anthony's Church in Yonkers.
Over the span of 40 years Romeo worked in the field of electronics starting his career at Sperry Gyroscope as a senior laboratory technician, a position he held for 15 years. After working at Singer Kearfott and other electronics companies, he completed his career at Loral Electronic Systems in 1992.
Romeo had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, including fishing, photography, amateur radio, metal detecting, archery, cooking, hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, biking, and rollerblading. He was an avid reader and history buff, and always had at least one camera with him when travelling and visiting new places. After retiring, Romeo travelled in the USA, Canada and Italy with his wife Julia, family members and friends, and enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones.
Romeo was the beloved husband of Julia Cartolano, and devoted father of Anthony R. Cartolano and wife Karen Cartolano, Thomas Cartolano and wife Alessandra Cartolano, and Robert Cartolano and wife Lisa Cartolano. Romeo looked after his cherished grandchildren Anthony L. Cartolano (Jeanette), Maria Cartolano, Kristine Logozio (Robert), Matthew Cartolano, Linda Paolino (Nick), David Cartolano, Mark Cartolano (Kelly), Amy Cartolano, and Joseph Cartolano. He was thrilled over the arrival of his great-grandchildren Ryan Cartolano, Kyle Cartolano, Sarah Cartolano, and Daisy Paolino. Romeo was the brother of the late Aida Moscato, late Vincent Cartolano, late Dominick Cartolano, late Fred Cartolano, and late Margaret Dicaprio.
