Peter Vaccaro, 89 years old, of Yonkers, passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2024, on the feast of Saint Nicholas, at the Sarah Neuman Nursing Home. He was born in 1935, in Italy. Peter and his wife Isabel enjoyed over 41 years of love and devotion to each other. He worked as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker. In 1979 as well as in 2008, Peter helped to build the large wooden chair for both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI for their visits to New York. Peter enjoyed spending time with his family as well as traveling to Italy every summer to spend time with his family overseas.
Survivors include his wife Isabel, his brother Gino and many nephews, nieces, other family, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Pantaleone; mother, Ida; and sister, Natalia.
Visitation for Peter will be at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue, on Thursday, December 12th, 4pm – 8pm. Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church on Yonkers Avenue, Friday, December 13th, 10:30am. His Final Resting Place will be at the Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
