John E. Dente, 85, of Bedford, NY, passed away September 14, 2010. John was born January 1st, 1925 to Sabado and Maria Louise Dente in Mount Vernon, NY. He worked for the US Postal Service as a postal carrier retiring in 1976. John served proudly in the United States Army during World War II, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with one Battle Star Combat Infantryman Badge, two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Beloved husband to the late Agnes Dente, who died in 2007. Loving father to John and Jeffrey Dente, father in-law to Patti and Louise Dente, cherished grandfather to Tyler and Chelsey Dente. Dear brother to Carlo Dente, brother in-law to Rose Dente and Clara Dente. Also, survived by loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister, Wilma Dente and a brother, Anthony Dente. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm with prayer service 8 pm at the Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 East Main Street, Mount Kisco, NY. Graveside service Saturday 11:15 am Bedford Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John E. Dente may be made to Bedford Village Fire Department, Village Green, Bedford, NY 10506
