Mary (Ruggerio) Merritt, 86, lifelong resident of Yonkers, passed away on November 30th. A graduate of Yonkers Public School and a retiree from Yonkers Public Schools (School 19). She was an active member of the Senior Center Community and recognized by the City of Yonkers for an outstanding volunteer.
Mary was born November 5, 1924 in Yonkers to Marie La Conte and Anthony Ruggerio. Married to a devoted husband Joseph Merritt for 59 years. She was a vibrant and compassionate woman. An inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Liguori and Barbara Rutledge and by four loving grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, and son, Joseph Jr. and three brothers Peter, Daniel, and George.
Friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. Funeral mass, Monday, 10 am, St.
Mary's Church on South Broadway. Interment to follow, St. Joseph Cemetery.
