Obituary of Anna D'Amato

Anna D'Amato of Yonkers, NY passed away January 7, 2011. Anna was born in Yonkers on February 3, 1918 to Paul and Katherine Bednarchak. Anna attended the Yonkers Public Schools system while participating in extracurricular activities of girls basketball and as a guitar player in a girls band. On May 12, 1947 she married the love her life, John V. D'Amato. Anna was active as a member of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Yonkers in both the Rosary Altar Society and the church choir. Anna worked for a number as a Yonkers School Crossing Guard at St. Bartholomew's Grade School. Anna loved caring for her family, swimming. singing, skating, dancing and all the duties of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 59 years, who passed away February of 2006. She is survived by her son Richard (Barbara) D'Amato, daughter, Judy (Paul) Manahan, grandsons Joseph (Kimberly) D'Amato, Robert (Beth) D'Amato, Christopher and Jonathan Manahan. She is also survived by one great grandson, Vincent D'Amato, as well by her brother, John Bednarchak and sisters, Helen Dutchick and Dorothy Wyka.
