Anne S. De Nicholas (Di Marco) age 86, of West Hartford, CT., formerly of Yonkers, NY died Sunday, January 9, 2011. Born December 29,1924, the daughter of the late Philip Di Marco and Maria (Lucidi) Di Marco. Anne graduated from Yonkers High School in 1943. She was in the first female graduating class of Drew University, Madison, NJ earning a Bachelors of Arts in 1946 and then earned a Masters in Education from Manhattan College in 1973. She married in 1951 and was predeceased by her husband Mario in 1971. Anne cared deeply for young children and their welfare and was hired for her first teaching position in Hallowell, ME (1947-1949). She then successfully and enthusiastically taught in the Yonkers public school system for 25 years. Anne lived in Yonkers until 1996, then moved to Connecticut. Anne loved music of varying styles and was active in her church choir for most of her life. For many years she enjoyed singing with the Voices of Bryn Mawr where she sang some beautiful quartets with her three talented sisters, Adrianna Lombardo (surviving), Algia "Dolly" Mc Crea (deceased), and Alba Johnsen (deceased). Anne was a deeply religious woman and very accepting of all religious beliefs and other ethnicities, she found the good in everyone she met. She was so happy to spend time with her grandchildren who she adored and was so proud of. They brought her great joy. Anne is survived by her loving children David (Denise) De Nicholas of Mechanicsburg, PA, Joy (Bruce) Rothschild of West Hartford, CT and Mark (Jeanette) De Nicholas of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren, Lauren and Tara De Nicholas, Sam and Joanna Rothschild and Olivia, Victoria, Rebecca, Sarah and Luke De Nicholas. Also surviving are four nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 4PM to 8PM at the Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers. The funeral will be on Friday at 10:00AM at Asbury Methodist Church, Scarsdale Rd, Crestwood. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
