Robert F. Higgins Jr., a lifetime Yonkers resident died peacefully on March 14, 2011 at the age of 64 after a short battle with cancer. For 21 years he worked for N.Y. Telephone and then for various wireless companies and most recently served as a construction manager for Metro PCS. Bob was an avid sports fan and athlete, including a passion for golf. As an original member of the " Boys from the First Hole " at Dunwoodie he earned a low handicap status. He also enjoyed playing softball and football in Yonkers Adult Leagues such as the " Brothers " softball team where he starred at second base. Bob also coached C.Y.O. basketball at Sacred Heart School for many years. Devoted son of Constance and the late Robert Higgins Sr. Beloved husband of Renie (De Palma) Higgins. Cherished father of Bobby Higgins of Yonkers, NY and Brian and Lauren of Sarasota, FLA. Adored grandfather of Robbie Higgins of Sarasota, FLA. Dear brother of Richard Higgins of Boston, MA and Rosemary (John) Bucci of Dobbs Ferry, NY. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John The Baptist Church on Friday at 10:30 am. Interment private.
