Obituary of Maria A. Hayes

Born in Havana, Cuba; arrived in the United States in 1957 with her first husband, Armando Posse, and oldest child, Maria with only a handful of earthly possession and not knowing how to speak the English language. They established themselves in Brooklyn, NY where their 2nd child Elvia was born. Maria was a hard worker who taught herself to speak English via watching TV. She worked many years for Clairol Company in the mail room and worked her way up to receptionist/secretary. She is survived by her husband, Harry Hayes, of nearly 40 years; 2 grown children; 1 grandchild, Joshua, and her beloved dog, Madison. She was a warm, loving, generous person with a great sense of humor who lived a simple life filled with faith in God and His son, Jesus Christ. She overcame many personal hardships and openly demonstrated her Christian beliefs with much forgiveness and deep caring love. She will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved her. Our lives have been touched and blessed by the gift which God gave us in Maria Hayes and we will ever be grateful to Him for that.
